A Gift for Teaching |
| |
A Gift for Teaching is a local non-profit organization that serves impoverished schools in Orange, Seminole, and Osceola counties. The mission of A Gift For Teaching is to ensure that children in Central Florida have the basic tools for learning by transferring, at no cost, the community's surplus supplies and merchandise into the hands of teachers and school children in need. MPE in partnership with Schenkel Shultz Architecture and Centex Rooney Construction Company designed a new facility for A Gift For Teaching in late 2004. In 2008, the Gift for Teaching staff filmed an awareness commercial at MPE's office in Maitland. |

Canstruction® |
| |
Canstruction® is a nationwide event that locally benefits the 2nd Harvest Food Bank. Canstruction® combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams, lead by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures made entirely out of canned foods. Each year MPE competes in this event held at the Orlando Fashion Square mall in October. MPE received Honorable Mention in 2004 for our Swift Boat structure. In 2005, we participated with our Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Robot structure and in 2006, we received another Honorable Mention for our "Supercan" design. Destiny Show Choir |
| |
Matern Professional Engineering, Inc. (MPE),
decided to spearhead an effort to level the playing field for Seminole High School's "Destiny Show Choir"
Destiny Show Choir is a very talented group of young adults that compete on a national level.
The talent & training is there, all they needed was a level playing field.
Costumes and Stage Props are expensive but have such an impact.
With nearly $10,000 donated in cash and the construction of some versatile backdrops,
Destiny now has beautiful costumes and some great backdrops that swivel and roll.
For those of you who attended the National Competition at Hard Rock Café,
what a treat to see this talented show choir take 1st place! Go Destiny!
Some of you graduated in 2006 and it was your farewell to Destiny,
best wishes to you as you leave high school and venture into the next phase of your journey.
To Mr. McGuire and for those of you, who have the privilege of being a part of Destiny in the following years,
thank you for the privilege of being of service to your talent & your future. |
