For more than 20 years MPE has performed design services for airport authorities, both as a Prime Consultant and as a Sub Consultant. During the course of designing more than 135 projects at Orlando International Airport (OIA) alone, MPE has gained extensive experience and knowledge resulting in dependable engineering design, innovation, and client satisfaction. Douglas P. Matern, P.E., Principal-in-Charge has also worked at Palm Beach International Airport, and Tampa International Airport, just to name a few. Other members of his team have worked at Dulles international Airport, JFK International Airport, and numerous other locations. The MPE team has successfully coordinated and performed activities with many agencies, including TSA, FDOT, FAA, and city and county agencies. Our experience with large design-build jobs enable us to work with the contractor, other disciplines, and the Owner and Owner's Reps in a team environment. Our extensive experience and knowledge gained in evaluating existing conditions at OIA and other facilities will allow for a quick determination of design direction. Our performance includes projects such as security enhancements, communication center upgrades, central energy plants, electrical systems upgrade studies, evaluation of emergency power systems and more. We have worked on every system at OIA including over 30 different systems, such as access control, CCTV, data, paging, FIDS, BIDS, fire alarm, building automation systems, power net and others. Through the performance of the more than 135 projects at OIA and more than 50 design-build projects, we have gained the experience to work with design teams and contractors to successfully keep all facilities open and online during construction. We have proven this ability on two (2) MPE prime projects: BP-228 Communication Center Upgrade and Expansion project and BP-351 Central Plant Chiller Electrical Upgrades project. These projects required well thought out phase and schedule plans. The majority of MPE’s projects are renovation projects that must be functional throughout the design and construction process. MPE understands this critical aspects of the project.
